Stonecrest's 2021 Budget (Draft)

Hello Stonecrest City Council and Citizens of Stonecrest,

Per Sections 5.02 and 5.03 of the city charter, and on behalf of Mayor Jason Lary and the city’s administrative staff, I am pleased to present the 2021 Draft Budget of the City of Stonecrest which includes the general operating budget as well as the capital budget supported by revenue from Stonecrest SPLOST I. You will also notice that in Year Four of the City, we anticipate the operating budget will grow from $10,364,150 to $13,493,400 (an increase of over 30%) even though we are still in the grips of the COVID-19 pandemic. The staff took a fiscally conservative approach to the City’s growth by balancing anticipated revenues during the pandemic and analyzing anticipated growth for the City in the key areas of Economic Development, the Building Department, and Parks & Recreation.

City Hall Staff is hard at work on preparing the requisite Transmittal Letter containing a statement of the general fiscal policies of the city, the important features of the budget, explanations of major changes recommended for the next fiscal year, and a general summary of the budget along with a Detailed Budget Binder that contains comprehensive definitions for each budget line item for presentation during the upcoming City Council Meeting to be held on Monday, October 12, 2020 where the first of several public conversations on this budget will be held.

The required Public Hearing to discuss the FY2021 Budget is planned for Friday, October 23, 2020 with adoption of the budget scheduled for the following week.

As you are in receipt of this budget, a copy is on the City Website for review by the public.

As always, my office is available to answer any questions you may have. Take care and have a wonderful day.

Best regards,

Plez A. Joyner
