Stonecrest issued several proclamations at its September 26 Council meeting.

The City of Stonecrest recognized several guests during its September 26 Council meeting.

The following honorees were presented with individual proclamations for their contributions to the community: 

Bishop Bobby Ray Henderson was celebrated for his international ministry, leadership, and passion for pastoral ministry. He is the Bishop of 150+ churches and Vice-President of the Missions Department of the Church of God in Christ. Bishop Henderson established the Anointed Word Evangelistic Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in 1992.

Pastor Jasper Williams, Jr. was honored for serving as pastor of Salem Bible Church for 59 years as well as his commitment to rebuilding communities, strengthening families, and leading many social action ministries such as a free counseling program, a children’s day care, and the construction of a dual structured, senior citizen high-rise.

Mr. Avery Dixon was recognized for his achievements in the performing arts and as a renowned saxophonist. He overcame several challenges in life and began playing the saxophone as an outlet to escape his experiences. That passion led him to receive a full scholarship to college, and acceptance into his dream schools. Mr. Dixon was recently a contestant on America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 17. He was honored at the Council meeting for being a finalist on AGT, and serving as an inspiration to others.

His Excellency David Nweze Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State, Nigeria (fondly referred to as Engineer Dave) was recognized for his philanthropy and commitment to making a difference in the lives of people throughout Nigeria and around the world. He has also made a tremendous impact on improving the transportation and infrastructure network throughout the state.
