A few weeks ago, the City Council approved a $1.2 million allocation for Stonecrest's 12 schools. This week, Mayor Cobble, along with City Council members from each district, presented the $1.2 million check to Dr. Horton, the DeKalb County Schools Superintendent, and Principals representing the schools in the City of Stonecrest.
"Caring for our community's future is a shared responsibility, and through the American Rescue Plan Act, we are taking decisive steps to ensure that our students have the support and resources they need to thrive. In collaboration with DeKalb County School District, services will be provided to a total of twelve schools located within the City of Stonecrest. The attached "Attachment 1" details the wraparound services and the option to purchase specific items aimed at helping the students in need. These initiatives include creating Zen Den/Mindfulness Rooms for students and providing essential items like clear book bags, composition notebooks, pens, hygiene products (such as underwear and deodorant), and more to address the needs of high-poverty schools within the City.”
