Due to anticipated severe cold weather, the City of Stonecrest will close all of its administrative buildings—including City Hall, Browns Mill Recreation Center, and all City parks—on Friday, Jan. 10.
“Our top priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in Stonecrest during this extreme weather event. We understand the challenges that severe cold can bring, from frozen pipes to power outages, and we want our community to know that we are here to support you,” said Mayor Jazzmin Cobble.
Forecasts indicate that temperatures will drop into the low twenties, a winter storm watch has been issued, and a wind advisory due to strong gusts expected across the region.
“Please take the necessary precautions to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your homes. Check on your neighbors, especially seniors and those who may need assistance, and stay informed through city updates and reliable weather resources. Together, we can weather this storm safely,” said Mayor Cobble.
The City will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as necessary. For additional information, please monitor the city’s website, social media channels as well as federal, state and local authorities.
SAFETY TIPS
• Dress warmly in layers and limit time outdoors
• Protect pipes from freezing by insulating them, allowing faucets to drip slightly, and keeping cabinet doors open to let warm air circulate around plumbing, especially for sinks located on exterior walls
• Check on elderly neighbors and others who may need assistance
• Avoid using outdoor grills or generators indoors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Ensure that carbon monoxide detectors are functioning properly.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to ensure the safety of our community.
