GDOT Announces Lane Closure Advisory for the I-285/I-20 East Interchange Project

Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will temporarily close interstate lanes at the locations below for the I-285/I-20 East Interchange. The project will reconstruct the interstate system-to-system ramps at the I-285/I-20 East Interchange and add a combination of collector-distributor, or connecting lanes, and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange. For daily traffic impacts and real-time traffic alerts, please visit Georgia NaviGAtor at

Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. (Daily)

  • Single left lane and left shoulder closure on I-20 eastbound from Panola Road (MM 72) to the Fairington Road overpass (MM 72.6)

 Monday, April 22, through Saturday, April 27, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. (Nightly)

  • Single right lane and right shoulder closure on both I-285 northbound and southbound from Columbia Drive (MM 47.4) to Snapfinger Road (45.1)
  • Single left lane and left shoulder closure on I-285 southbound from Snapfinger Road (MM 45.1) to Columbia Drive (MM 47)

Monday, April 22, through Saturday, April 27, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. (Nightly)

  • Pacing operation on both I-20 eastbound and westbound from the I-285 Interchange (MM 67.3) to Wesley Chapel Road (68.5)

Lane closures help ensure safety for workers and drivers through the project area as crews continue milling, inlay and resurfacing to improve the deteriorating roadway.

Advisory: Exact times may change due to weather conditions. There may be intermittent traffic pacing and lane and ramp closures that occur within the work zone in addition to this notice. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit, or download the Georgia 511 app.
